The challenge
The problem
The relentless pursuit of speed and reduction of cost to achieve the demands of hardware and software acceleration is the equivalent of the digital space race and without this technical innovation will not deliver.
With Intel’s Moore’s Law now struggling to keep up with the doubling of integrated circuit speed every 2 years and the challenges of building more advanced chip manufacturing facilities coupled with increasing supply chain issues, there must be another way to provide solutions to this problem of performance?
The environment
The environment is critically important so reducing the carbon footprint associated with the constant manufacturing of new solutions by enabling complex tasks using lower powered and cheaper architecture or, better still, optimising current hardware is the logical way forward.
The current situation
With the vast amounts of information that is stored in Big Data, DNA, Cybersecurity and other environments, existing solutions limited to a maximum of 20,000 parallel searches are struggling to keep up with performance demands and currently is solved by constantly upgrading to faster and more expensive processors!
